Orshel-Read A/W 2010 Collection

Today I was assisting with Stefan Orschel-Read's couture show at the Freemasons' Hall in Covent Garden. His collection features a fabric print design I created and two hand-embroideries based on the pattern design. The print was used in various garments, see below, and the bird embroidery as unique motifs on two of the trousers.

Pharrel Williams and Bionic Yarn

Is there no end to this mans entrepreneurial endeavors, this time he is getting a piece of the sustainable design pie.
Pharrell has become part owner and investor in NY company Bionic Yarn, run by his partner Tyson Toussant, which is a green manufacturer of yarns made from recycled plastic bottles.
He has already begun using it in his clothing lines which include Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream.
" We were just looking at this new canvas that is amazing. Basically, the denim is still denim, the cotton is still cotton. The process to make the Bionic Yarn makes it extremely durable and gives it a really luxurious feel. "
" We'd like for it to be the next Gortex. I want it to be incorporated into everyday use and for people to see it all over the Wal-Marts and Targets of the world. So that people can see that if they have a perfectly great green alternative, why not choose that? "

Visit the website to see more about the fibre and all the scientific stuff that goes on in the process of making it.
